Snowflake bobwhite quail are a color variant of the Northern bobwhite (Colinus virginianus), known for their striking white and speckled plumage, resembling snowflakes. They are not a separate species, but rather a genetic variation of the common bobwhite quail, originating from the Mexican Speckled Bobwhite. These birds are popular for aviculture due to their unique appearance and relatively docile nature.

Appearance:

Snowflake bobwhites have a base color of white or light buff, with dark brown or black speckles, giving them a distinctive snowflake-like pattern.

  • Origin: They are a color mutation of the Northern bobwhite, which is native to North America, and are believed to have originated from the Mexican Speckled Bobwhite
